The femoral nerve (L2–4) is the great extensor nerve of the knee and the largest branch of the lumbar plexus.
COURSE
• Forms within psoas → emerges at its lateral border → passes under the inguinal ligament LATERAL to the femoral artery (outside the femoral sheath) → divides in the femoral triangle.
