The carpal tunnel is the osseofibrous passage at the wrist; compression of the median nerve within it is the commonest entrapment neuropathy.
WALLS
• Floor + sides: the carpal bones forming an arch (concave anteriorly).
• Roof: the FLEXOR RETINACULUM (transverse carpal ligament), attached to the scaphoid tubercle + trapezium (laterally) and the pisiform + hook of hamate (medially).
